Following on from the Broadband Event in Trinity Saint David, Lampeter (14/11/11), 3 Mobile had come forward with an offer to pilot a project of 20 individuals / communities / businesses providing them with free internet access for 12 months.  Adverts for applicants to this pilot had already gone to all council employees via the intranet and an advert had also been placed in the Cambrian News. 

A number of applications had been received and these were discussed by a panel.  20 successful applicants (4 are businesses, 1 is a charity, 1 for the FUW to be used on farm visits etc. The remaining 14 are individuals spread all over the county.

All were presented with a free unit for 12 months at the meeting on 7th March.  Two personnel from 3 Mobile had attended, along with a representative from the Welsh Government Innovations Team and a representative from Telemat.  The MiFi units were handed out and applicants were talked through set up, wireless networking and data allowances etc.  It was proposed to hold a follow up evening with all the applicants to obtain fFeedback and to see if any IT training needs could be identified.
