The Cynnal y Cardi Local Action Group (LAG) is inviting all individuals, groups, businesses and organisations to drop in at the ‘Cynnal y Cardi: Making the most of your rural community’ open event.
The event is held on Tuesday, 31 January at Theatr Felinfach, Aeron Valley, SA48 8AF, and everyone is welcome to drop in anytime between 3pm and 8pm.
Cynnal y Cardi, which is administered by Ceredigion County Council, will be showcasing its rural community led activity and offering an opportunity for those present to explore potential funding and support from a range of organisations. An exhibition of Ceredigion LEADER activity will be on display.
Councillor Gareth Lloyd, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Economic and Community Development Services, Ceredigion County Council said: “This event will be an opportunity to show how community based and locally led activity can evolve into something that can benefit Ceredigion’s residents.”
This project is funded through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.
Councillor Lloyd continued, “Looking forward to the year ahead, we want to hear about your ideas and in particular for individuals and communities to develop what may seem like basic ideas into innovative and effective projects.”
One of the projects currently supported under the LEADER 2014-2020 scheme and which will be highlighted at the open event is ‘Academi Arweinyddiaeth’ (Leadership Academy). Cered Manager, Lynsey Thomas said: “Cynnal y Cardi support has enabled us to offer an intensive leadership course for Welsh speaking young adults to foster leadership skills in the community, with the intention of motivating them into action locally to benefit the community and to develop their skills to be able to tackle the challenges facing communities of the future.”
Helen Howells from Hwylus Cyf will be providing a local young entrepreneur’s perspective on how the rural landscape is changing from both a social and economic context.
