Open Day Llanon y Neuadd Tudor ruins Saturday, 6th, 13th, 20th July, 2-4pm.  Other open days in August see ‘Branch Museums’.

This year we are working with Llansantffraed History Society, Dyfed Archaeological Trust and Master Thatcher, Alan Jones, to conserve the 19th century thatched cottage in Llanon.  A special feature of this fine example of a traditional Welsh cottage is the roof, which is built of reused timbers and uncut branches and has an original rope under-thatch.  Vital conservation work will be undertaken to preserve the rare under-thatch and renovate the building.

Adjacent to the cottage is a Tudor ruin, called ‘Y Neuadd’.  Dyfed Archaeological Trust will be recording and excavating the ruin and the Llansantffraed History Society are working with the museum to produce interpretation panels for the site.

There will be open days and volunteering opportunities for anyone interested in getting involved.
