Three toll boards from New Quay, are being conserved and reframed, ready to be put back in their original location on the harbour wall. The tolls were charged to ships delivering products to the port, including billiard tables (5 shillings) gunpowder (one shilling per 100 pounds) coffins and even corpses (10 shillings)! The museum is working with local people to explore the story of the toll boards tell about New Quay’s maritime and local economic heritage.
