A gloriously sunny two days saw more than 2000 visitors celebrate Aberystwyth’s rich heritage, soaking up magical tales of faeries and witches, chilling out to medieval music or taking tours of the castle and town.  Hands-on opportunities were plentiful too as the traditional crafts of basket- weaving, spinning and wood-turning were demonstrated.  Children excitedly dug for archaeological treasures, had their faces painted with fantastical designs and created weird and wonderful clay pots.

The 13th century castle and the legacy of the town’s Victorian tourist boom inspired the main themes of the festival.  Historia Normannis, a local re-enactment group, thrilled with their weaponry displays and a novel way of chopping cabbages:
