Local Action Group (LAG), Cynnal y Cardi is on the lookout for new members to develop and deliver its Local Development Strategy (LDS) as part of the LEADER scheme in Ceredigion.

The Cynnal y Cardi LAG, which is administered by Ceredigion County Council, is made up of three representative groups – private, community and public.  To ensure a well-balanced representation of interests, the group now seeks new members to join the group to represent specific interest areas, for example young people and health and wellbeing. The LAG would also like to encourage representatives from organisations in the public and private sector to consider joining the group.

Councillor Gareth Lloyd, Cabinet Member with responsibility for Economic and Community Development Services, Ceredigion County Council said: “We would be delighted to hear from organisation or group representatives keen to make a difference to rural development activity in Ceredigion.”

Since September 2015, the current LAG has developed and supported 24 rural community projects led by local individuals representing groups and organisations.  The total project costs for this period amounts to £841,300, 70% of which has been contributed through the Rural Development Programme (RDP).

With its support in terms of project development, evaluation, pilot projects, feasibility studies, facilitation, training, mentoring and consultation, the LAG has helped many ideas become a reality.

Cllr Lloyd continued: “The LAG plays an important role in making rural community ideas come to life – ensuring a fair and open approach to getting ideas developed and delivered and is accessible to all who live and work in the county. The group welcomes ideas all year round – big or small.”

LEADER which aims to support innovative responses to opportunities or challenges faced by rural communities is supported through the Welsh Government Rural Communities – Rural Development Programme 2014-2020, which is funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development and the Welsh Government.

If you work for an organisation or business or are a member of a group in Ceredigion representing these specific interests or sectors, Cynnal y Cardi would like to hear from you.  The closing date for submissions is 27th September 2017.   For further detail call the Cynnal y Cardi team on 01545 572063.
